Thinking to much............

After reading posts here, here and here...........got me thinking...........I already have a note in my profile not to tag me but it begs to reason most of the comments on these girls posts are bloggers agreeing that they don't like being tagged and/or tagging other.........why do people create them then?????......

.....some bloggers don't want to leave others out..........some ultimately feel they have been forgotten or are not "popular" if they are not tagged - I am a bit sneaky when i did do some I would just say consider yourself tagged - I did this for 2 reasons so I didn't have to be picky and miss someone esle and if people wanted to do it they could just play along.............I didn't want people to feel compelled to complete the "meme" if they didn't feel comfortable - sometimes you can put to much information out there

on the email I receive a recipe exchange.............should not have done it I ended up receiving it 5 times.............never again but I did get some nice recipes - only did it as I love food and enjoy cooking............

I was somewhere in blogland the other day and someone was saying about not being in the "popular" crew - not sure about you but I don't see that...................I don't see an "in crowd" .............I go to different blogs for diferent reasons..............and I am sure that the people that come to mine come for many different reasons also................

I just LOVE blogland and have had a wonderful positive experience so far.........it has motivated me to get so much more done sewing wise..........opened up my world - I am interested in so many more countries and areas of the world (just wished I had the money to travel) and my photography has improved heaps - I would hate to see people worrying about if they are "in" or not just enjoy it for what it it..........

I must finish up now and this post is a bit heavy for my usual and probably too confusing but my thoughts are a little busy at the moment................if you have made it this far thanks..........

I have received presents from Carole and Connie - thanks girls more about them later........I am so spoilt..........

This is something to think about.

This is something to think about. I like reading meme's but I feel uncomfortable about tagging other people do them. They are fun to do and in some ways I've learned some things about myself while writing them.

I like the fabric you bought recently. Very soft, feminine fabrics. They will add a nice touch to every quilt they go into.

Ok....good post, I also love blogland...if you had said to me 6 months ago that I would be this involved in blogging I would have laughed...the people whom I chat to on a regular basis I have become so fond of, even though I have not met most of them they seem like old friends...all my experiences have been also positive... I feel so motivated at the moment, and I thank blogland for that....

I do not have a blog but so enjoy reading them. It is uplifting and read the experiences, progress and fun of people who enjoy quilting and fabric. I never have seen it as a popularity contest...crazy. Thank you!

I hear what you're saying. I always resist memes, but did fill one in recently. It got me thinking about why I don't like doing them, so I did it just for that reason. I'm not a lover of chain letters, and memes and recipe swaps and stuff like that all fit into the chain letter category in my opinion.
I can see how some people can feel like they're not 'popular' as you say. The beauty of blogging in my mind is that you soon find some people who you have a connection to, or a common interest, and then you just join in. Nobody says that you can't play in their sand box!
I joined in on the Civil War Diary quilt ring that is happening now as I had already started the quilt, and needed some motivation. However I can see that already I'm left behind, and no doubt will always be as I'm not as motivated as some other quilters. But it's nice that you can just join in and go for it.

Hi!

Loved your comments and thought your post was interesting. This attitude is just so "High School". (And who wants to go there, right?)There are sections of our society who endlessly promote popularity so I guess you're bound to find some who blog. I blog for me. I do feel part of a community when I blog, more so than just reading other people's blogs, but the main reason I blog is to inspire me to finish (and sometimes even start!) my sewing projects. It's a great motivator. I can't wait to take a photo of the finished product and post it on my blog! OK. Maybe it doesn't always work. My daughter said to me today when she phoned that she hadn't noticed any finished items on my blog lately and was I alright!!! Blogs are also a relatively stress free and simple way of keeping up with friends and family. Hey, I do this for fun. And if it wasn't fun I guess I wouldn't do it!

Great post Donna! You already know my feelings about all the prior conditions of blogging. I love to see what other bloggers create, to see other parts of the world, to read about totally different lifes. I don’t like to travel but I like to broaden my horizon. I’ve been overwhelmed by all the kindness and goodness in blogland. I also hope to draw some attention and create understanding concerning important issues. Blogs are a wonderful platform for that as well.
And blogs are a great motivater, like Kris says. It helps me to get projects done and start far too many new ones... LOL!

I think that you just have to be comfortable with what you are sharing and be true to yourself. I agree that blogland is a wonderful place and very motivating craft wise. You certainly "meet" so many wonderful people.Great that you shared your thoughts:)It can be a bit tricky!

Great post Donna,
Like other I don't mind being tagger but I hate passing it on, like Jenny @ fairybread I have never been a lover of chain letters ect. I feel when I have been tagged it's rude not to join in(maybe that is my problem) then I feel uncomfortable tagging others because I feel they may feel like me. Like you I have never been more compelled to finish project or take better picture since I started blogging. Anyway great post.

I come here 'cause I love it here! Like you blogging has been such a wonderful experience -- SO eye-opening about women in the rest of the world and a way to keep a record of parts of my life. Glad recipe swaps have worked for you -- whenever I do them, I never get anything back -- I just assumed it was that way for everyone LOL!

Well I'm with you! I do not feel comfortable tagging others. I do have to say that I enjoy learning about everyone, but I hate to put people on the spot. I think we just have to learn to let it go if you aren't up to it. Great post. And i love that blogging has something for everyone!

Terrific post Donna
I really don't like chain letters, they all end up in the bin, the dire threats have never come true. Anyway chain letters are illegal. I love visitin the blogs I that I read, for sewing , gardening, simple living, recipes etc, and I find them all wonderful. I am so totally computer illerate, but one day I will start a blog. Coming and visiting my friends helps me to deal with the c--p that is happening in my life ,(not DH but other stuff) So don't please don't anyone feel that they HAVE to pass on tags or even do them unless that is your personal choice. enough of my ramblings, have a beautiful day

I think some meme are fun but once they've gone around, let it go! Some just seem to linger on way longer then they should. I've been tagged and never posted. It just gets old! More because I had nothing to say! I love the blogs I have on my "reader" list. I visit them for various reasons. Yea, maybe there's "in crowd". I mean, I wouldn't know! I just want to have fun! You've got to blog because you love it and not because you're looking to be "popular with lots of comments" or want to "fit in". I have met some wonderful people, you for one Donna. Now you got my curiosity! lol I'm thinking that maybe they just like drama in their life! lol Me, I like it simple! Keep well my friend!

Donna
you are really angry.
I don't do meme or chains anymore because I don't want to embarrass those that I name. I like blogs because I learn a lot and I hope that others feel good when come and visit mine.
ciao ciao

Lots to think about here. Blogland is a great way to feel connected to a wider stitching community. Not many of my friends are stitchers so blogging gives me a chance to share my pasion and be constantly inspired by others. I like it that just like we are all special and unique, so are our blogs. After a busy and stressful day in the real world, I love having this happy place to escape to. As a relatively new blogger, must admit I felt uncomfortable doing the tag thing but didn't want to appear rude by not joining in. If people want to share about their lives that's fine, but I'm quite okay with bloggers (guess I'm one) who mainly just post about stitching stuff. Sorry about the essay! Bye

Go Chooky, I think we basically all feel the same, and you have been brave enough to put it out there. Good on you!

Good post, Donna. Right now I'm delinquent in posting not one but 2 memes that 3 people tagged me for. Ooopsy! I'm actually running out of excuse not to do them. I will post mine...eventually. And, I will tag you! LOL! Just kidding.

I love blogland because of the infinite inspirations to be had. I can't believe there are sooo many creative people out there willing to share their talents.

BTW, your pictures are AMAZING! Keep up the good work.
Take care!

Great post Donna. Love the blogs for all the inspiration and I have found I am getting much more done. It's so great to see what everyone is working on and the connection we all have to each other. Love, love your photos :-)!

Great post, Donna. I don't mind the memes so much, but I dislike having to tag anyone. Some of the memes are a great way to learn more about the blogger, but it should be their choice to do them.

Your thoughts are wise...When I got into this blogging thing I was so curious of what other quilters had done... to seek inspiration and find new friends...and I am overwhelmed of what I have found!! I am not a lover of chain letters and rarely pass them on...but sometimes I do... sooo this is a good question for us all to think over...
Take care...

Thanks for your thought provoking post, Donna. You make some great points.
Like you, I also love blogland and have been having a ball. There's so much inspiration, so much to learn and very friendly, interesting people to share it all with. I love it for so many reasons.
Thanks again for a great post.

I posted a NO TAG notice on my blog. This is the perfect way to let bloggers know where you stand just in case they don't read your profile. I found it at Junie Moon
http://junie-moon.blogspot.com/

Some of the blog "circles" can appear to be a bit cliquish. Comments fly back and forth with a regularity that comes with having things in common as well as having been acquainted for a while, not an excuse just a thought. I hope you have never felt snubbed at Stillmeadow Quilting. I am an all inclusive blogger. I want to meet a variety of people from all walks of life. Drop by sometime, we'll chat.
Kim
PS: My apologies to any blogger who received an unwelcome tag from me. From now on, there will be no tagging from this quilter. Whew! Who had the time anyway???

Kim said...

PSS: The "you" I refer to in my previous comment is meant for all who may read the comment, no one person in particular, LOL, sometimes my messages are clear as mud! :O)

Perfect post, Donna! I couldn't agree with you more. Tagging is a "catch 22" - if you're not tagged you feel left out and if you fail to tag someone then you fear you've hurt some feelings. Maybe 'no tagging' in a profile is a good idea. Something to ponder! Oh, I hope we don't have the perception of "cliques in blogland" - ugh!

Hmmm, I am clueless. I had noticed the "tag thing" but didn't know what it was all about. Now that I know a little more I am glad I was clueless. I enjoy blogging just because I want to write and share my thoughts. Have had positive response from several friends so that is good enough for me!
